The Nightmare Critters are a group of characters created by Playtime Co. that serve as the polar opposite of the Smiley Critters. While the Smiley Critters have positive personality traits, the Nightmare Critters have negative personality traits. The Nightmare Critters' designs are bolder and darker in theme, which contrasts sharply with the Smiley Critters' design. Maggie Mako is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who are supposedly the opposite of the Smiley Critters. She appeared in Chapter 4: "Hideout" as a minor antagonist in the form of a small toy. Maggie is always thinking about her belly. She's happiest with food in her mouth, and trust us, she's NOT picky. She LOVES sweets, but vegetables? Yuck. Don't be surprised if she takes your advice on "healthy eating habits" with a splash of sugar, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a big cherry on top, all while laughing out loud at you.
According to her character description, Maggie Mako is a gourmand and glutton from the Nightmare Beasts. Her thoughts mostly revolve around her stomach, specifically its contents and whether it's full or not. Her highest level of joy only blossoms when she's gorged herself. Unfortunately, her eating habits mostly consist of sugary substances, as she has a serious sweet tooth. Maggie hates vegetables and doesn't care about healthy eating.

Maggie Mako is an anthropomorphic shark (possibly a megalodon) characterized by turquoise skin, complemented by thin eyebrows and expressive black eyes, which (like other Nightmare Beasts) are permanently furrowed in a gleam. Her features extend to her turquoise claws, legs, head fin, and tail (which has a small triangular notch at the top), while a shade of white adorns her lower jaw, belly, and markings around her eyes. Like other Nightmare Beasts (and Smile Beasts), Maggie sports a permanent wide grin with a darkened inside of her mouth, but possesses sharp triangular teeth. A black necklace gracefully adorns her center, revealing an adorable brown shark-tooth pendant. Maggie also exudes a chocolate-like scent from a small mouth diffuser.

Touille is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. that are supposedly the opposite of the Smiley Critters. He appeared in Chapter 4: "Shelter" as a minor antagonist in the form of a small toy. Touille (pronounced "Too-ee") is a self-proclaimed "garbage rodent." When he's not busy eating and collecting trash, he's a lively conversationalist. He talks a lot, which is all the more surprising considering he has next to nothing to say. If you ever need someone to make a "thoughtful" comment or some random nonsense, Touille is your guy.

According to his Twitter bio, Tuili is a "Nightmare Critter" hoarder. A self-proclaimed "garbage rodent," he frequently visits trash cans and other waste-filled areas to eat and scavenge any trash he can get his tiny paws on. Beyond this unappealing lifestyle, Tuili is an energetic chatterbox. He'll engage in conversation at any opportunity. Unfortunately, his conversational skills are woefully inadequate. As a result, he can neither adapt to changing discussion topics nor add to existing ones.

Tuili is an anthropomorphic rat with dirty gray fur, complemented by thin eyebrows and expressive black eyes, which (like other Nightmare Beasts) are perpetually narrowed. His features fade to a light silver exterior of his mouth and underbelly, while his nose, tail, and the insides of his round ears are salmon pink. (His left ear is slightly torn.) His arms and legs are a darker shade of gray. Unlike other Nightmare Beasts (and Smile Beasts), Tuili sports a permanent wide grin with a darkened interior, but possesses two front incisors. A black necklace gracefully adorns his center, revealing a charming sea-green fishbone pendant.

Poe is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who are supposedly the opposite of the Smiling Critters. He appeared in Chapter 4: "Shelter" as an antagonist in the form of a small toy.
Po hates the sun and considers it a cruel joke of nature that the world needs it at all. He feels more comfortable in the darkness; they spend their nights wandering through cemeteries, listening to music, and feeling a vague anger at nothing in particular. He insists this isn't a temporary aberration.

According to their character description, they relish the darkness and detest bright sunlight, considering it "nature's cruel joke." Po is a reclusive individual who prefers to keep to himself and is nocturnal. He has a strong affinity for cemeteries, as they are his favorite place to spend his nights listening to music. He feels more comfortable among the dead than among the living, further exacerbating his sullen nature. Po also suffers from anger issues, often experiencing rages without apparent purpose or cause.

Furthermore, Poe repeatedly emphasizes that his nightly routine is not a whim, implying that his friends do not approve of these late-night outings.

Po is an anthropomorphic raven with purple-blue plumage, complemented by thin eyebrows and expressive black eyes, which (like the other Nightmare Beasts) are perpetually squinted. He has a dark purple beak, belly, and hind legs. Like the other Nightmare Beasts (and the Smiley Beasts), Po always sports a wide, toothless grin, the inside of his mouth shrouded in a mysterious darkness. A black necklace gracefully adorns his center, revealing a charming pendant in the shape of a thundercloud with yellow lightning emanating from below.

Simon Smoke is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who are supposedly the opposite of the Smiling Critters. He appeared in Chapter 4: "Hideout" as a minor antagonist in the form of a small toy.
Simon Smok knows he's cool and popular, and he makes sure no one ever forgets it. Whether he's bragging to his friends or simply showing off one of his accomplishments, for him it's always a popularity contest. He almost always wins. Truth be told, he's a total jerk, but he has a knack for getting away with it.

Simon Smoke is an anthropomorphic dragon, distinguished by light-red scales that complement his long, reptilian tail, thin eyebrows, and expressive black eyes with triangular eyelashes that (like other Nightmare Creatures) are furrowed in a permanent scowl. His facial features include white wing membranes, underbelly, and ears (the inner sides of which are white), while his claws, mane, and wing bones are adorned with a bright red hue. He has yellow tail spikes and two curved horns, and he wears a yellow rectangular earring on his left ear. Like other Nightmare Creatures (and Smiling Creatures), Simon is perpetually grinning widely, his mouth darkened inside but with four white fangs on either side. A black pendant gracefully adorns his center, revealing an adorable yellow dollar sign pendant. Simon also exudes the scent of wood smoke from a small diffuser in his mouth.

Allister Gator is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who are supposedly the opposite of the Smiley Critters. He appeared in Chapter 4: "Sanctuary" as a minor antagonist in the form of a small toy. Allister is a generally lazy guy. He's laid back, sure, but if he could, he'd spend ALL DAY in the water doing practically nothing. He's not a fan of the phrase "no pain, no gain." He's much more of a believer in the philosophy, "Good things are bound to come to me... sooner or later. I just have to wait for them." (He's STILL waiting.) According to his character description, Allister Gator is the slacker of the Nightmare Critters. He has a laid-back personality, and his friends often pressure him to participate in activities, but he lacks drive and ambition. If given the chance, he'd happily laze by the pond, doing nothing productive for a full 24 hours. He firmly and devoutly believes in the philosophy: "Good things come to those who wait." The only time Allister makes an effort is when his friends force him to.

Allister Gator is an anthropomorphic alligator, characterized by light green scales that complement his long reptilian tail and expressive black eyes, which (like those of other Nightmare Beasts) are grooved to form a permanent gleam. His features extend to a light yellow-green lower jaw and belly, while a shade of army green adorns his claws, feet, eyebrows, tail spikes, and parallel striped patterns on his elbows and knees. Like other Nightmare Beasts (and Smiling Beasts), Allister is perpetually smiling and has a darkened inside of his mouth, but he has alligator teeth. Rabie Baby is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co., who are supposedly the opposite of the Smile Critters. She appeared in Chapter 4: "Shelter" as a minor antagonist in the form of a small toy. According to her character description, Rabie Baby is the gossip of the Nightmare Critters. She is incapable of keeping secrets and refuses to let others keep secrets from her. Boundaries and privacy are alien to Rabie Baby, and she will do anything in her power to obtain even a scrap of gossip. This has led others to fear her presence, as it means she is eavesdropping on conversations. If she fails to obtain any stories, she will make up and spread her own, meaning her stories are more likely to be inaccurate.

Reybee Baby is an anthropomorphic bat with white fur, complementing her expressive black eyes, which (like other Nightmare Critters) are perpetually squinted. She has pink wing membranes, hind legs, and ears (the insides of which are pink), while her forelimbs (including the upper claws), claws, and eyes have a purple tint. Unlike other Nightmare Critters (and Smile Critters), Reybee sports a permanent, wide grin with a darkened inside of her mouth, but possesses two large, protruding fangs, likely characteristic of vampire bats. A red necklace gracefully adorns her center, revealing a charming pendant shaped like a scarlet drop of blood.

Icky Licky is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co., who are supposedly the opposite of the Smiley Critters. He appeared in Chapter 4: "Shelter" as a minor antagonist in the form of a small toy.
According to the character description, Ikki Likki is a loser with a hyper-competitive streak. He constantly challenges his friends to numerous competitions—each one different from the last—every day. Although he possesses natural talent, his arrogance overshadows it. This arrogant attitude, coupled with his competitive nature, causes him to greatly underestimate his opponents, which ultimately leads to his chronic defeat. Instead of admitting his opponent's defeat, he constantly blames events beyond his control, be it luck or getting dirt in his eyes (though his friends see through his excuses).

However, Iki's toxic personality may be a facade that hides the inferiority complex that torments and grows within him.

Ikki Licki is an anthropomorphic poison dart frog, characterized by black and purple skin that complements his expressive black eyes, which (like those of other Nightmare Beasts) are furrowed with a permanent glint. His features extend to bright yellow stripes that circle his face and body, and these form the tips of his webbed fingers and toes. In keeping with other Nightmare Beasts (and the Smiling Beasts), Ikki sports a permanent, wide, toothless grin, his inner mouth shrouded in mysterious darkness. A red necklace gracefully adorns its center, revealing a pendant bearing a black biohazard symbol outlined in thick red.

Baba Chops is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who are supposedly the opposite of the Smiley Critters. She appeared in Chapter 4: "Hideout" as a minor antagonist in the form of a small toy, the "Black Sheep" of the group. Baba prefers to keep her space. Like, a LOT of space. TOO MUCH space. She can be aloof, quiet, low-energy, and usually requires a LOT of coaxing to get her out of the house. Luckily for her, she has some very persistent friends. She usually perks up after a while, but the next day we're back to the same old story. Her personality has been compared to that of an anxious teenager. She apparently prefers her own space and is very reserved.

Judging by the Chapter 4 teaser trailer, Baba Chops is a skilled and ruthless hunter, having killed and collected hundreds of small toys. With such a surplus of food, it seems she now kills for sport rather than for sustenance. Instead of searching for prey, she uses the collected corpses as deadly bait, targeting any toy that dares enter her domain.

She's also cunning by nature, using her darker color scheme (compared to her brightly colored counterparts) to blend into the darkened factory environment, hiding in plain sight. Her camouflage tactics allow her to stay close to potential prey, who won't detect her presence until it's too late. Baba Chops appears as one of the nightmare beasts in the prison. However, she later becomes a secondary antagonist when the player falls into a small maze where Harley Sawyer locks them in, releasing Baba Chops. She will jump on the player, damaging them while making eerie noises. Baba Chops can't be hit, so players must find their way out of the maze by avoiding her and trying to avoid taking damage.

Baba Chops is an anthropomorphic sheep characterized by a dark gray coat, complementing her cotton-tail, and expressive black eyes, typical of her toy line. However, her dark coat contrasts with her stark white face (with two small slits for nostrils), hooves, and triangular-shaped ears, the insides of which are darkened. Although the black sheep maintains a permanent wide smile and a darkened inside of her mouth, she has two large, white, curved teeth on her upper lip, similar to those of cartoon rabbits. A distinctive black lightning bolt runs gracefully down her center, revealing a shiny silver skull pendant.
