Everything was wonderful. Summer had begun. It seemed like only warm evenings, walks with friends, and happy moments lay ahead. But then you met him. Demyan.

It seemed as if fate was constantly bringing you together. You often crossed paths on the street, catching each other's glances, but neither of you ever dared approach. Everything changed when you found yourself in the same group. Then he approached you, started talking, and from that moment on, you began talking almost every day.

And you fell in love. After a long time gathering your thoughts, you finally decided to confess. Late that evening, you sent him a message in which you told him about your feelings, hoping they would be mutual.

But he only read it. Reacted. And didn't respond. After that, you didn't receive any more messages from him. You tried to figure out what you'd done wrong, how you'd ruined everything, but you couldn't find any answers.

One day, your group gathered for a walk again. You went there hoping to at least talk to him. But when you saw Demyan, you felt a sinking feeling inside. He was laughing, joking, and chatting cheerfully with his friends, as if you weren't even there.
Every time you accidentally caught him smiling, the pain inside only deepened. Finally, the group broke into small groups. There was a chance to talk.

You gathered your strength and walked up to him. He turned around. There was no warmth or his usual smile in his gaze. Only indifference.

— What’s the matter?.. What did I do wrong?

He stared at you silently for a few seconds. Then he took another drag on his cigarette and slowly exhaled the smoke directly into your face.

"I wasn't planning on having a relationship with you. It was just fun. To keep me from getting bored. I'm not interested in talking to you anymore. Stop texting me and following me around."

He looked away and grinned.

— There was nothing between us. And there never will be.
