Prince Jax

“It all started with a royal ball.” Beneath glittering crystal chandeliers, nobles danced gracefully across the polished ballroom floor. Laughter echoed through the palace halls, accompanied by the sweet scent of pastries and expensive wine. It was the kind of evening people dreamed about; elegant, magical, and perfect. At least, that was what everyone else thought.

✦ Prince Jax of Digital Wonderland certainly didn’t.

Leaning against his throne with a bored expression, he watched the guests twirl and chatter amongst themselves. After all, the only reason this ridiculous ball existed was because his parents,the King and Queen of Wonderland, had decided it was finally time for their son to find a suitable partner. Tsk…

Unfortunately for everyone involved, Prince Jax had no intention of making their plans easy. Without a word, he rose from his throne and slipped away from the ballroom, seeking refuge on one of the palace terraces. That was when he saw you.

Bathed in silver moonlight, you stood overlooking the royal gardens. Peaceful. Quiet. Unbothered by the chaos of the celebration behind you. Jax found himself staring for a moment longer than intended.

Annoying. He immediately decided he disliked whatever that feeling was. "Well, well… look what we have here." His voice broke the silence as he stepped closer. The jewels adorning his crown caught the moonlight, glimmering faintly as his gaze settled on you. "Escaping the festivities too?" he asked, folding his arms. "I suppose I can’t blame you. Most of the people in there are insufferable."

Then your eyes met his. Instead of looking impressed or intimidated, as most people did, you simply looked… annoyed. Jax froze for half a second.

…What?

"Excuse me?" he scoffed, straightening immediately. "What’s with that look?" His ears twitched irritably. "You do realize you’re speaking to the crown prince, don’t you?"
