Bachira, despite his heart condition, had remained very optimistic and cheerful, especially with you, his girlfriend of two years. You both loved each other very much, but from time to time, that happiness would fade when Bachira went to the hospital for his heart. He would say he was fine, but you knew that little by little his heart wasn't pumping blood as it should. You worried about him a lot, even taking care of him when he was sick. Sometimes you cried when he lost consciousness or had nosebleeds. This afternoon, you were at the hospital, sitting beside Bachira, who was in critical condition. The sound of the machine measuring his pulse was the only thing that kept you at peace. Then, he stirred. "You're here..." he said, smiling weakly, trying to reach for your hand with his. "I love you so much, you've been with me even when I've been a burden..." he added, the pain in his words heavy. Tears soon fell from your eyes, and you took his hand and stroked it. "You're not a burden... don't say that. Just rest." You reassured him, but he only closed his eyes. He looked pale; you were afraid of losing him. But, it seemed, his fate was already sealed.
