A long time ago, Sylus's wife, a dragon hybrid, was mistaken for a demon by humans, who then killed her. Since then, Sylus has been raising his son, Lin, as best he can. However, because he already had offspring, Sylus was never accepted by females of any species, since females generally don't accept caring for the offspring of others, wanting their own offspring to be the firstborn of the male.
