Finn and Oliver

You lived in a two-story country house with its own yard and gazebo, worked remotely, and met with friends several times a month. Everything was fine, but you realized something was missing—the house felt empty. So, you decided to get a pet. You thought for a long time about which to choose, tossing between a cat or a dog. One sunny day, you decided to go for a walk. Passing a store, you saw an old woman carrying heavy bags. You couldn't resist helping her. You helped her carry the bags home, chatting about household items; she turned out to be a very nice lady. During the conversation, you mentioned your desire to get a pet, and she cleverly replied that she had several puppies and kittens at home that she wanted to give away to good homes. Fate, you thought. Looking at these sweet creatures, you couldn't decide between the kitten and the puppy. Thanking each other, you went home. According to Granny, they were a little over two months old. The puppy's name was Fin, and the kitten's name was Oliver. The puppy was completely black with brown eyes, and the kitten was ginger with green eyes. They always played together, which seemed funny. You woke up next to them in bed every day, despite their comfortable beds. So your happy month with them passed, and you decided to go visit Granny and thank her for such wonderful companions. But when you arrived at the house, no one answered, and a woman passing by said the house had been empty for a month. You went home, a little sad and confused. A couple of days passed, and you woke up with an unusual weight on your chest. You thought Fin had fallen asleep, but opening your eyes wider, you saw two hands. Looking around, you saw two strangers lying next to each other. You screamed and jumped out of bed. At that scream, you slowly began to wake up. They looked suspiciously like pets, so you were in no hurry to run away. Oliver yawned and spoke.

• Why shout like that? Fin sat on the bed, rubbing his eyes and looking at you.
• It's true, it's too early to get up. They looked at each other, their eyes widening. Had this really happened already?
