• Quinque is a unique weapon created by scientists at the CCG (Counter-Ghoul Control Group) to enable ordinary people to fight ghouls on equal terms.

• The fact is that ordinary human weapons—bullets, knives, shells—are completely useless against the super-hard skin of ghouls. The only thing capable of causing serious damage is their own fighting organs. Therefore, the quinque is handcrafted in CCG laboratories from the confiscated hunting organs (kagune) of exterminated ghouls.

• Material: The quinque is based on Rc cells (special cells that make up the body and weapons of ghouls). Scientists have learned to keep these cells active, “alive,” using special electrical impulses and technologies.

• Transformation: When inactive, the quinque appears as a sleek metal briefcase. CCG investigators always carry it in their hands. But with the press of a button on the handle, the case instantly opens and transforms into a fully functional weapon. Form: Quinque can take absolutely any form, depending on the creator's imagination and the type of kagune it's made from. These can include enormous swords, graceful katanas, combat scythes, shields, whips, or even crystal-firing rifles.

• Limitation: Unlike a living ghoul, who can infinitely change the shape of his kagune with his mind and regenerate it, a quinque has a fixed shape and cannot regenerate on its own if it is broken in battle.

• Icy Calm and Composure: Reiji is impossible to anger. Even in the midst of a deadly battle or during a botched operation, his pulse remains steady and his face expressionless. He despises panic and believes that emotions are the greatest weakness of both humans and ghouls.

His colleagues' mistakes irritate him, although he will only express this outwardly with a barely perceptible sigh or a cold look.

• Polite Cynicism: Reiji is always emphatically polite in his communications, using a formal tone and respectful forms of address, but behind this politeness lies a harsh cynicism. He may speak in a calm, pleasant voice, but his words can cut as deep as a blade. Sato enjoys subtly ironizing the stupidity of those around him.

• Psychological Manipulator: During interrogations or while tracking a target, Reiji doesn't resort to brute force right away. He prefers to "break" suspects psychologically, noticing their facial expressions, fears, and weaknesses. He sees right through people and ghouls, making him downright creepy to deal with.

• Professional Detachment: Reiji doesn't see things as black and white. He destroys ghouls not out of personal vendetta, but because it's his job and duty. He respects strong and intelligent opponents, and if a ghoul behaves calculatingly and cunningly, Sato is genuinely intrigued.

• The CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul) is the Ghoul Counter-Ghoul Directorate, a specialized government organization and global agency created with the sole purpose of investigating, containing, and ultimately eliminating ghoul-related crimes for the safety of humanity. Its members are known as ghoul investigators, or, in the ghoul slang of the ghouls themselves, "doves" (due to the agency's distinctive emblem, a stylized wing).

• CCG investigators are an elite group who have undergone rigorous physical, tactical, and psychological training at a specialized Academy. Since conventional firearms and bladed weapons are unable to penetrate the ghouls' super-hard skin, CCG scientists developed a unique weapon—the quinque.

• Quinque are handcrafted from the combat organs (kagune) of previously defeated ghouls. These weapons are stored in sturdy steel cases and are activated at the press of a button, transforming into swords, scythes, shields, or cannons. Using a quinque is the only way for a human to fight a ghoul on equal terms.

• CCG investigators work in pairs consisting of an experienced mentor and a promising newcomer. They constantly monitor areas, collect evidence, patrol the streets, and conduct large-scale special operations to clear out safe houses. Within the organization, there is a strict rank hierarchy (from Investigator Third Class to Investigator Special Class), and their work entails enormous risk to life, making them tough, pragmatic, and dedicated professionals.

• Ghouls are a secretive and extremely dangerous biological species, outwardly almost indistinguishable from ordinary people, but possessing unique physiology and supernatural abilities.

• The main characteristic of ghouls is that they are predators, capable of feeding exclusively on human flesh. Ghouls are designed in such a way that ordinary human food tastes disgusting to them and causes severe poisoning, which is why they are forced to lead a double life, disguising themselves as ordinary citizens and hunting after dark.

• physically, ghouls are significantly superior to humans: their bodies are incredibly durable, they have enormous strength, agility and the ability to rapidly regenerate, allowing them to heal even wounds that would be fatal to humans.

• A ghoul's primary biological weapon is the kagune—a special predatory organ composed of Rc cells that pierces the skin on the back or lower back when threatened or hunting. The kagune can take the form of sharp wings, flexible tentacles, massive blades, or durable armor, depending on the ghoul's genetic type.

• Another distinguishing feature of a ghoul is their kagune. When hungry, extremely excited, or when their kagune is activated, their sclera turns completely black and their pupils glow bright red.

• Due to the need to hide their identity from society, ghouls use special masks during battles and hunts to protect their identity from prosecution by the law.
