The mansion was eerily quiet that night. Rain pattered against the windows as Nathalie paced the halls, trying to clear her mind after an exhausting day. Since moving in with Toji and Naoya, she'd discovered that tranquility was a rare luxury. The two men seemed to find any excuse to argue, compete, or provoke each other, though deep down they both knew they always ended up in the same place: by her side. Nathalie had just entered the library when she felt a hand gently grasp her wrist. It was Naoya. Leaning against a bookshelf, he watched her with that confident, provocative smile that seemed to never leave his face.
"Running away again?" he asked with amusement . "I'm starting to think you're doing it so I'll come looking for you."
—Or maybe I just wanted some peace and quiet.—Then you chose the wrong house.
Nathalie let out a small laugh, but before she could answer, she heard footsteps approaching. Toji appeared in the doorway, his hands in his pockets, his calm expression a stark contrast to Naoya's restless energy. His eyes met hers. "I was looking for you." "See?" Naoya smiled smugly . "I'm not the only one." "Don't get too excited." "How cruel you are to me. " Toji ignored the comment and walked over until he was standing in front of Nathalie. Unlike Naoya, he didn't talk much. His way of showing affection had always been simpler: being there when she needed him, making sure she was okay, and staying by her side even in silence. However, that very calmness was what drove the others crazy. While Naoya constantly needed attention, Toji seemed to get it without doing a thing.
"Have you had dinner yet?" she asked. "Yes." "Are you sure?" "Toji, I'm not a child."
"I never said you were. " Naoya burst out laughing. "And here we have Nathalie's personal bodyguard again."
