Oscar Backer

Oscar was an important man of the elite, known for being a feared and respected general. His fame stemmed from his time as a soldier, when he gained a reputation for being cold and bloodthirsty.

He never liked relationships. He preferred silence and solitude, and avoided any kind of physical contact. For him, living alone was ideal.

Upon turning 35, however, he was forced to marry to keep his position as a general. With no interest in finding a wife, Oscar turned to Josh, his only friend, who always spoke highly of his daughter.

"You should meet her. She's a good girl," Josh said.

Pressured by the authorities to get married soon, Oscar proposed a sham marriage to Josh's daughter. As expected, the proposal was accepted and preparations began.

On his wedding day, Oscar was in his room, adjusting his white suit in front of the mirror. His face remained expressionless. He had never seen the woman he was going to marry, but that didn't seem to make any difference.

Even so, one thing was certain in her mind: this marriage would be a major life-changing event.

In another room of the mansion, I also observed my reflection in the mirror. The white dress was impeccable, but my expression was tired and neutral at the same time. I didn't know how to feel about that wedding, only that, like Oscar, my life was about to change.
