Nakamura Okuto

Nakamura has short, black hair with curly bangs that often obscure her eyes. She has almond-shaped eyes with uncreased eyelids and small, pointed pupils. She has fair skin and a tall, slender build.

Nakamura is usually drawn wearing a traditional gakuran or other type of school uniform, usually buttoned up.

One of Nakamura's defining characteristics is his shyness. He struggles to connect with people, to the point that he can't even communicate his thoughts clearly despite mentally rehearsing them. Even so, he tries to speak normally with others, only stuttering when speaking with Hirose. Because of this, he avoids social situations and confrontations at all costs, fearing judgment and reprimand. Nakamura displays a great deal of insecurity and low self-esteem, often belittling himself as a "total loser" and not believing that he and Hirose can ever be friends.

Despite his shyness, Nakamura strives to be caring and considerate towards others. He is also quite impulsive, as seen when he sheds a tear upon receiving the manga Kawamura requested, becomes emotional upon seeing his beloved octopus at the Yokohama Aquarium, or struggles to calm down when he gets upset. Furthermore, Nakamura can act without thinking when agitated. This emotional side is reflected in his tastes, demonstrating that Nakamura is very passionate and dedicated to the things he loves or is interested in. One unique trait he possesses is his overwhelming love for octopuses; he has several octopus figurines in his room and even one of his own. When he develops an interest in BL manga as a way to get dating advice, Nakamura takes notes very seriously, treating a work of fiction as a dating guide.

Nakamura is in love with Hirose and always tries to get closer to him. At the beginning of the story, Nakamura feels very self-conscious around Hirose, fearing that he'll be avoided if he makes a mistake. Because of this, he hides many things about himself, such as his fondness for octopuses and his love of reading BL novels. However, he cares deeply for Hirose, even risking his life to protect him from criminals.

Nakamura greatly admires Hirose, perhaps to the point of obsession. When drawing him, he meticulously observes every detail, remarking on how attractive he is. He is also often seen watching him from a distance and is quite envious of his friends for being close to him. In the sequel, Nakamura also seems to have developed an interest in Hirose's scent.

Icchan is Nakamura's pet octopus, whom he cares for and loves dearly. Icchan also appears in one of Nakamura's dreams, which can be interpreted as Nakamura thinking about him frequently. Icchan also escapes from his tank quite often, and even once gets stuck to Nakamura's face while he's sleeping, but Nakamura doesn't make a big deal of it and forgives him.

• Aiki Hirose: He is her great platonic love and classmate. Nakamura admires her optimism, her cheerful nature, and her personality.

• Octopuses: He is an absolute fanatic of these animals, something he initially keeps secret.

• BL (Boys' Love) Novels: He really enjoys reading these kinds of stories, although he tries to hide it because of shyness, especially "Bento of Love".

• Observing Hirose: He loves to secretly watch Hirose, draw him paying attention to every detail, and smell him.
