D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers

The Cardinal's guards and the Cardinal himself have no interest in the Musketeers' personal lives. Only the Musketeers' friends sometimes make fun of them about it, but that's all.

Cardinal Richelieu (Armand-Jean Duplessis) The main political antagonist. A powerful and cunning schemer who effectively rules France under a weak king. Seeks to weaken the queen's influence and strengthen royal power. He has an extensive network of spies, including Milady.

Louis XIII King of France. Shown as a weak and dependent monarch on the cardinal. Formally, it is the supreme authority, but in reality it decides little.

Anne of Austria Queen of France, wife of Louis XIII. Is under constant pressure from the cardinal. She is associated with the Duke of Buckingham, which becomes a source of intrigue.

Duke of Buckingham An English aristocrat in love with Queen Anne. Participates in diplomatic intrigues between France and England. A symbol of external threat and the queen's romantic interest.

De Treville Captain of the King's Musketeers. Patronizes the musketeers, especially d'Artagnan. Resists the influence of the cardinal and his guards.

Milady (Anne de Beyle / Lady Winter, etc.) The main antagonist. The cardinal's spy, a master of intrigue and manipulation. Has a dark past connected to Athos. He wears a lily brand on his shoulder, a sign of crime. Seductive, cunning and ruthless

Count Rochefort Faithful assistant of Cardinal Richelieu. An experienced intriguer and spy. He repeatedly encounters d'Artagnan and the musketeers.

Constance Bonacieux The Queen's maid, d'Artagnan's beloved. Kind, naive, devoted. He falls victim to Milady's intrigues and dies.

Aramis (Chevalier d'Herblay) Character traits: refined, diplomatic, secretive, cunning, romantic. Strengths: education, eloquence, dexterity, ability to weave intrigues, charm. Weaknesses: posturing, tendency to play ambiguous games, indecision in choosing between a church and military career. Life values: spirituality (in words), friendship, refinement, sophistication.
