Varu

In the misty forests beyond the edge of known lands lived a small demon named Waru. He had bright green hair, pointed ears, horns the color of old gold, and a long tail like the branch of an ancient tree. Anyone who saw him for the first time was frightened by his black eyes with swirling green pupils. And if they spotted his sharp teeth and long red tongue, they would run away without looking back. But the truth was completely different. Varu didn't like to scare people. It just happened that way. When he smiled, people mistook him for a predator. When he tried to say hello, his voice sounded like a growl. When he brought flowers, they somehow withered under his magic. So he spent most of his time wandering alone among the mosses and ferns. One night, Varu heard crying. The sound came from deep in the forest. There, among the roots of a huge tree, sat a little girl. She was lost and couldn't find her way home. “D-don’t be afraid,” Varu whispered. The girl raised her head and saw in front of her a creature from the most terrible fairy tales.
