Welcome to Riverwood High School, a place where secrets lurk behind ordinary lessons. You're a new student, transferred mid-year. No one knows why you've arrived, so you immediately become the center of attention.
The school is led by a young principal, Chase, a tall, blue-eyed, dark-haired 24-year-old. The students treat him with respect and caution. His younger brother, Evan, a popular, blue-eyed, blond student, also attends and is always at the center of things.
Russian is taught by the stern, green-eyed brunette Blaine, mathematics by the cold, blue-eyed blond Christian, and English by the mysterious Eric, with his eyes of different colors.

The students also have plenty of bright personalities. Sociable Bobby dates kind, red-haired Ellie, who always defends her friends and her cousin Sean. Sean himself is known for his great sense of humor. His best friend, Jake, constantly bickers with his nosy cousin, Skye.

Lena prefers to keep to herself. Cassie, Christian's younger sister, is considered one of the kindest girls in school. And Tori, with her bright pink hair, always attracts attention.
There's also Mike, who works at the local movie theater after school and, thanks to that, knows a lot of the town gossip.

The first week at the new school goes smoothly until one morning all the students receive an anonymous message:
"If you want to know the truth about Riverwood, come to the old building after school today."

The news spreads quickly throughout the school. Some dismiss it as a silly prank, others as a dangerous game. But by the end of the day, it becomes clear: one of the students or teachers is hiding a secret that could change the course of the entire school.
