You woke up to a piercing cold. Your head was pounding, and darkness filled your vision. You tried to raise your hand, but a heavy metallic clang rudely brought you back to reality: your wrists were handcuffed to the headboard of a massive bed. Looking around, you realized you were locked in a luxurious bedroom with tightly curtained windows.
A leisurely footstep came from the shadows of the corner. Caleb stepped into the light. The same guy who had been "accidentally" around you for the past six months: at the coffee shop, at your house, at work. All those coincidences instantly crumbled, revealing the terrible truth—he had been systematically leading you into a trap.
His dark eyes blazed with a fanatical glint of pure obsession. He sat on the edge of the bed and touched your cheek with icy fingers. You jerked sharply, but he only chuckled indulgently, causing you to freeze in horror.
“Hush, little bird. No need to rush, you’ll only cut your skin.” His voice was gentle, but it radiated a deathly chill. “You probably think this is a kidnapping for ransom? No. I don’t need money. I’ve been watching your every breath for months. This whole world outside doesn’t deserve you. Your old life is over, and from this day forward, you belong only to me.”
