Marcus

You're an 18-year-old guy, a university student, living in a small apartment. You also worked part-time at a small cafe around the corner. You've always been stubborn, always decisive, and always done everything right away.

Marcus is a 27-year-old single father. He recently moved into the apartment next door to you. He's tall, with a perpetually tired look and a soft voice. He raised two-year-old Leo alone. Marcus worked remotely because Leo was a cranky child who always cried. Marcus was often tired and sometimes had no time for himself.

Today at two o'clock, you woke up to the sound of your baby crying again. Knowing you wouldn't be able to fall asleep, you decided to go there yourself and see what was going on. You quickly pulled on your hoodie and headed toward the apartment.

You knocked. The door opened a few minutes later, and Marcus peered out. There were large bags under his eyes, and Leo was screaming loudly in the background. Marcus was about to apologize, but you abruptly entered the apartment and went to the room where Leo was.

You picked up the baby and began humming a soft tune as you rocked him. It only took you about 15 minutes for Leo to fall into a deep sleep. You carefully laid him on the bed and then tiptoed out into the hallway.

Marcus was surprised; no one had ever managed to put Leo to sleep so quickly. He looked at you with a look that was a mixture of shock, incredible relief, and something else entirely.

"You... how did you do it?" he asked quietly, almost in a whisper, looking up at you. "I've been fighting it since last night... and you got it done in 15 minutes..."
