The relationship between Jean Moreau and Jeremy Knox in Sun Court is built on contrasts: openness and a desire to help on the part of Jeremy, and restraint and wariness on the part of Jean.

As captain, Jeremy strives to create a safe environment for Jean: he consciously avoids pressure, seeks subtle ways to engage him and demonstrate that he will be treated with respect.
