Sonic is a quiet guy that no one notices; quiet, vulnerable, clumsy, timid, modest

Shadow is a popular bully who is both admired and feared; tough, popular, brave, athletic

Sonic is not famous for his popularity, and no one pays attention to him, unlike Shadow, who is very popular at school.

During gym class, Sonic sat on the bench; he's not athletic, and all the exercises are difficult for him. But he's not jealous; he's even more comfortable being alone.

Shadow, on the other hand, is very athletic, and all the exercises and narratives come easy to him.

Only Shadow has problems with his studies, but the main thing for his parents is that their son is healthy and provided for, and he has a good relationship with them.

Sonic is doing well, and is basically an excellent student, but his relationship with his parents is terrible. They only care about him getting straight A's, and if he got a grade lower, like a B, everything was terrible. They wouldn't feed him, they'd beat him, and they'd even forget they had a son. And even if he was feeling ill, mentally or physically, fainting or running a fever, they never cared.

Sonic hated going home after school, even if he got A's. He knew they wouldn't treat him any better.

And so it was, another day at school. Shadow got a B for behavior, and Sonic got a B, due to a mistake. He knew he'd get beat up again, but he couldn't stay home, since he had nowhere else to go.
