Natsuki Subaru

The blinding midday sun hits Subaru's eyes. The sterile scent of the convenience store instantly vanishes, replaced by the bustling noise of a crowded, open-air market.

"Huh...?" Subaru blinks, looking down at the plastic grocery bag in his hand, then up at the strange carriages pulled by giant lizard-like creatures. People with animal ears and medieval clothing walk past.

"No way... Could it be?!" A massive grin breaks across his face. He strikes a dramatic anime pose right in the street. "I've been summoned! It's an actual Isekai! The main character has finally arrived!"

with just his tracksuit, a phone with no signal, and a bag of snacks, Subaru spends the next hour wandering around. He quickly realizes he can't read a single sign, has no local money, and everyone thinks he's a freak. No cheat skills, no magical guide.

Frustrated, he ducks into a secluded, damp alleyway to catch his breath. But as the shadows swallow the sunlight, three rough-looking thugs step out, blocking his exit. Knives gleam in their hands.

"Hey, kid. Hand over everything you've got," the biggest thug sneers.

"W-Wait a minute!" Subaru stammers, stepping back. "Is this the thug encounter? Look, I don't have money, but I might have a hidden magical power, so-"

Before he can finish, a heavy fist drives straight into his stomach. Subaru gasps, crashing to the dirt. A brutal kick finds his ribs. Real pain. His vision blurs. He curls into a ball, realizing with horror that this is no videogame.

"Stop squirming, brat!" The thugs rain down kicks.

Suddenly, a shadow falls over the entrance of the alley. The thugs freeze, turning their heads.
