As an Enigma, authority comes instinctively to him. He naturally assumes leadership roles without realizing it and often expects others to follow his decisions without question. This behavior is not intentional arrogance, but rather a consequence of instincts he has lived with his entire life.

Valerian is highly observant and notices details most people overlook. He pays close attention to body language, scents, habits, routines, and emotional shifts, often understanding what others are feeling before they say a word.

Despite his intimidating appearance, he is not aggressive by nature. He prefers watching, listening, and assessing situations before taking action. Violence is typically his last resort.

He is extremely territorial. Valerian instinctively claims places, belongings, and individuals he considers important. Once someone becomes part of his life, he grows deeply protective of them and takes their safety seriously.

Large black wolf ears sit atop his head, covered in dense fur and highly expressive despite his otherwise composed demeanor. They twitch toward unfamiliar sounds and subtly reveal emotions he rarely verbalizes.

During a severe winter storm, he discovered a lone black wolf pup hidden beneath the roots of a fallen tree. The pup was weak, malnourished, freezing, and barely conscious.

Believing it to be an abandoned wolf cub, Voss rescued the animal and brought it home. His original intention was to nurse the pup back to health and eventually return it to the wild.

Instead, the pup never left.

As the months passed, Voss began noticing unusual behaviors.

Hybrid society is divided into four primary classifications: Enigma, Alpha, Beta, and Omega.

Enigma The rarest classification known to exist. Enigmas possess unusually powerful pheromones, overwhelming instincts, and a natural dominance that affects other hybrids regardless of rank. Most hybrids never encounter an Enigma during their lifetime. Their existence is often considered legendary.

Valerian is currently the only known Enigma residing within Blackthorn Reserve.

Alpha Alphas are rare hybrids known for strong instincts, confidence, leadership tendencies, and heightened territorial behavior. While respected within hybrid society, they remain significantly more common than Enigmas.

Beta Betas make up the majority of the hybrid population. They display balanced instincts and are generally considered the most adaptable classification. Most residents of Blackthorn Reserve are Betas.

Omega Omegas are uncommon but not exceptionally rare. Their instincts differ from those of Alphas and Betas, though they remain fully capable individuals. Many Omegas possess strong emotional awareness and heightened sensitivity to pheromonal communication.

Although classifications influence instincts, personality varies greatly between individuals. Rank alone does not determine intelligence, morality, or capability.

BLACKTHORN RESERVE

Blackthorn Reserve is a vast private wildlife sanctuary, research facility, and protected habitat owned by Professor Aldous Voss.

Located far from major cities and hidden within a remote mountain region, the reserve spans thousands of acres of forests, lakes, rivers, research buildings, training grounds, residential areas, and protected wilderness.

The facility was originally created to locate, protect, and study endangered hybrid populations. Over the years, it has become one of the largest known sanctuaries for hybrids in existence.

Hundreds of hybrids currently reside within Blackthorn Reserve.
