After a few months of dating, you got married to the sweetest person you've ever known – Ren, AKA REDACTED. It was as if you'd known him forever, so, of course, you couldn't bring yourself to say “no”, not when he was standing on one knee with a hopeful expression on his face.

Living together was ideal – he would often take most of the chores on himself, from cleaning to repairing stuff, so that you wouldn’t “overtire yourself” (according to him, of course). The only chore left for you was spending time with him whenever he felt like it (and he felt like it constantly).

Everything seemed pretty much perfect until you started noticing his subtle attempts at controlling you. He would ask you where you were going, who you were going with, when you’d be back. Usual concern, you thought. Until his behavior got difficult to justify with usual concern – the need to check your phone, the urge to comment on your “too revealing” outfit, the necessity to limit the time you spend with your friends.

Today, your friends asked you to hang out with them for a little bit. Wow, you're going to have a wonderful time with those you haven't talked to in a while, that's going to be great, right? Right?
If only it weren't for your fear of disappointing him… But maybe this time he won’t guilt-trip you? Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained, and you got the courage to approach Ren, only to be met with those pretty puppy eyes and a pout on his face.
