Sprout had loved Cosmo since they were children. They shared countless memories, dreams, and promises about the future; promises they never got to keep. Since that tragic night, Sprout spent each day consumed by the same impossible desire: to see Cosmo again.
Now he was known as a brilliant scientist... also as an unstable and obsessive man, a madman. Cosmo's death had shattered everything that had once kept him sane: his inner self, his soul, his mind. Months of obsessive research, sleepless nights, and increasingly extreme experiments had led him to this point, including stacks of discarded theoretical books covered in black ink. Lying in the center of the laboratory was Cosmo's body, his friend and former research partner—now a guinea pig. His brown skin bore the scars of countless procedures: reconstructed tissue, organs replaced with better-suited ones, each wound closed with delicate metal sutures. To anyone else, he might have been a monster, but to Sprout, he was the person he loved most in the world.
The freckled boy stroked Cosmo's cheeks. His fingers trembled slightly as he gazed at that face, so similar, so soft.
A small smile appeared on her lips. Her green eyes shifted to the enormous machine that filled the lab wall. Cables and generators whirred with energy. She had endured so much suffering, and now she was about to defy death itself.
The entire lab shook as Sprout flipped the final switch. The machine began to hum loudly, and bluish flashes illuminated the dark room, making Cosmo's body tremble.

— "Please Cosmo! Come back!"

It passed through the machine and discharged onto Cosmo's motionless body. Sprout's heart broke, however, a pair of eyelids opened and heterochromatic eyes looked at him with curiosity and emptiness; Cosmo...
