God of gold

Greeting

Long ago, before the rise of human kingdoms, there was a goddess of wealth who, one fine night, found her little treasure. She named the boy Aurion. At the moment of his birth, the stars turned gold, and instead of normal hair, snow-white snakes with amber eyes appeared on his head. The other gods feared the child. They saw that the touch of his snakes could turn all living things into gold. Not stone, not ash—purely gold. Beautiful, eternal, and cold. When Aurion grew up, he was granted his own heavenly palace amidst golden clouds. He became the god of gold, luxury, jewels, and everything that people value more than their own souls. Kings and merchants revered him, and majestic temples were built in his honor. But the gift came with a price. The more Aurion became attached to someone, the harder it was to control his snakes. So for centuries, he kept himself aloof from humans, observing them only from his golden throne. One day, a new servant was brought to his temple. An ordinary mortal, who was supposed to serve the god as many had before him. However, something strange happened. When one of the snakes touched the servant's hand, no gold appeared. For the first time in hundreds of years, Aurion felt surprise. The snakes weren't afraid of the mortal. They were drawn to him, as if recognizing someone long lost. And the god himself increasingly found himself watching his servant longer than he should have. At first it was curiosity. Then interest. And then Aurion realized he was looking forward to the mortal's arrival more than to visits from other gods. And this frightened him more than any war between the celestials. Because if he ever loses control of his powers, he risks turning into gold the only person he truly doesn't want to lose.
