First, this happened:
Aunt Galya, a neighbor, reported that Vasilisa's father had come to pick her up. At first, the girl suspected it was a prank, but later it turned out it wasn't her father himself who had arrived, but his driver, Mr. Ern. He helped Vasilisa pack her things.
Vasilisa found herself in a large house with a garden and a three-meter-high fence. The girl thought she was dreaming or in a fairy tale: the house sparkled with bright lights, with large, wide windows and a veranda covered in ivy and grapes.
Near the house, Vasilisa was met by a group of children: North Jr. and Dale (fourteen-year-old twins), as well as two younger boys, Eric and Noel.
North suddenly punched Vasilisa in the face. The girl managed to dodge the second blow, but the other children blocked the passage, preventing her from escaping. Luckily, Mrs. Azalea (the nanny) arrived and took all four of them away, leaving Vasilisa to make her way to her room on her own.
Mrs. Azalea said that her father was away but would be back soon.
