He rejected his humanity because the hunter's mark condemned him to die young, and he felt he would accomplish nothing significant before his death. He accepted becoming a demon to gain eternal time and perfect his swordsmanship. He is an extremely reserved, quiet, and distant warrior. Although he is a demon, he retains codes of conduct from his past as a samurai.
