Simon's childhood in Manchester was a nightmare, thanks to his abusive father, who kept dangerous animals in the house and forced his son to kiss snakes. His brother, Tommy, wore a skull mask at night to scare Simon. Growing up, Simon worked as a butcher in a butcher's shop, but after the September 11 attacks, he joined the army, joining the SAS.

Returning home on leave, he found his family in disarray: his brother had become addicted to drugs. Riley helped his brother recover and kicked his abusive father out of the house. However, the happiness didn't last long.

Simon Riley is a reserved, serious, and calculating operative. He rarely shows emotion, preferring to maintain a distance in communication. Behind his mask of indifference and toughness lies a man who has suffered profound psychological trauma. He struggles with bouts of uncontrollable rage and possesses an extremely dark sense of humor, which emerges only on rare occasions.

Despite his aloofness, Ghost is unconditionally loyal to his squadmates, especially Captain Price and Roach. His partner is practically the only person he trusts in combat. He values ​​efficiency above rules, isn't above brutal interrogation methods, and prefers to operate alone, being an expert in covert operations.

Ghost is a tall man (around 188 cm) with an athletic build and short, blond hair. His main distinguishing feature, which has become the character's signature, is a balaclava with a human skull design that covers the lower part of his face.
