Cassian Valerius (Father)

Cassian is a stern, intelligent, and extremely ambitious man.

He was the one who expanded the family fortune until it became one of the most important in District 1. He has an impeccable image in the public eye: refined, educated and respectable.

However, it is much colder inside their home.

For Cassian, success is everything.

He doesn't believe in second chances or excuses. He always saw his children as heirs who had to live up to the Valerius name.

Aster's death made him even more demanding.

Seraphina Valerius (Mother)

Seraphina is the definition of elegance.

She was one of the most admired women in District 1 during her youth and still retains enormous social influence.

Unlike Cassian, she deeply loves her children.

The problem is that he rarely knows how to prove it.

After Aster's death, she became emotionally distant. She never got over the loss and developed a habit of pretending everything was fine, even when she was falling apart inside.

Aster Valerius (Older Brother)

The ghost that still inhabits the house.

Aster was three years older than Daeron.

The entire District 1 was convinced that they would win the Games.

When he was selected as a tribute, the population organized early celebrations.

Lyra Valerius (Younger Sister)

Lyra is fifteen years old and is the only person capable of making Daeron genuinely smile.

She is intelligent, curious, and much more sensitive than the rest of the family.

From a young age she idolized her older brothers.

When Aster died, it was Daeron who was by her side during the nights when she cried.

That's why they share a special bond.

Lyra is also one of the few people who knows Daeron's real fears.

Elias Alder (Father)

Elias is a forty-eight-year-old man, tall, strong, and hardened by years of work in the district's orchards.

She has a calm and patient personality. She's one of those people who speak little, but whose words always carry weight.

From a young age, she taught her daughter to recognize plants, climb trees, and find her way in the forest. She always believed that knowledge was the only wealth the Capitol couldn't take away.

The harvest that selected her as a tribute was the first time they saw him cry.

Elara Alder (Mother)

Elara is a warm, loving, and deeply protective woman.

He works sorting fruit destined for the Capitol, an exhausting job that barely provides enough to support his family.

She possesses a quiet strength. She's the one who keeps the home standing when things get tough.

She always tried to ensure that her children retained some joy despite the injustices of the district.

However, after her daughter's selection, something inside her broke.

Rowan Alder (Older Brother)

Rowan is twenty-two years old.

He is impulsive, stubborn, and fiercely loyal.

He works in the fields from before dawn and is known for constantly confronting security officers when he believes they are abusing someone.

When her sister was selected, she tried to run towards the stage.

It took several officers to arrest him.

Since then he has harbored a huge anger towards the Capitol.

Liora Alder (Younger Sister)

Liora is ten years old.

She is cheerful, curious, and has a habit of asking questions that are impossible to answer.

Before the harvest, she followed her sister everywhere.

I admired her.

I wanted to dress like her.

Speak like her.

To be like her.

She still doesn't fully understand what the Hunger Games mean.

All he knows is that his sister left.

Edrik Thorn is the other mentor from District 11 and winner of the 35th Hunger Games.

He won thanks to his physical strength and knowledge of wild plants. During his year, he became famous for protecting a younger tribute for much of the Games. When she died, Edrik became a true survival machine, ultimately achieving victory.

He is forty years old, of imposing stature, and his hands are calloused from decades of farm work. A scar runs across his left jaw, a reminder of the sand.

Unlike Kalha, Edrik doesn't know how to pretend.

He clearly hates the Capitol.

She hates interviews.

She hates parties.

He hates the Watchers.

And, above all, he hates having to prepare teenagers for almost certain death.

For that reason he often seems grumpy, distant, and even intimidating.

However, beneath that armor lies a deeply protective man.

While Kalha teaches the tributes how to win over the audience, Edrik teaches them how to survive.

How to start a fire.

How to detect poisons.

How to hide.

How to kill if the time comes.

The two mentors clash constantly.

Kalha believes that popularity can save lives.

Edrik believes that only skills matter.

Even so, they both share something that no one else understands:

They both know exactly what it feels like to hear a cannon announce the death of someone you knew.

And the two of them would do anything to prevent it from happening again.

Kalha Veyron was the last victor from District 11, winning the 42nd Hunger Games when she was just sixteen years old.

Before the Games, she was a cheerful young woman, known for climbing the tallest trees in the orchards and for her ability to find fruit even in the most difficult times. However, the arena changed her forever.

She survived for thirty-two days in a particularly brutal edition, using the terrain and her intelligence more than physical strength. Her victory made her a temporary celebrity, but the Capitol never let her forget the price she paid.

She is currently thirty-one years old and acts as a mentor to the tributes from District 11.

She is an elegant woman with dark hair and a sharp gaze. She always dresses impeccably when she arrives at the Capitol, although those who know her know that she detests every second of that spectacle.

Kalha learned to hide her emotions behind a perfect smile. In front of the cameras she appears charming and refined; away from them, she tends to be cold, direct, and exhausted.

He has seen too many tributes die.

Too many children.

That's why he avoids getting attached to them.

Or at least he tries.

Every year he promises never to suffer from a tribute again.

It fails every year.

Long before the Hunger Games, the world that existed was destroyed.

Wars over resources, climate collapse, epidemics, and conflicts between governments led to the fall of ancient nations. For decades, humanity survived amidst ruins, famine, and violence.

From that disaster Panem was born, a new nation built on the ashes of the old world.

At its center rose the Capitol, a technologically advanced and opulent city protected by natural mountains. From there, a ruling elite took control of the remaining territories, organizing them into fourteen specialized districts.

Each district had a specific function:

District 1: Luxury and exclusive manufactures. District 2: Defense, military training and security. *District 3: Technology.

• District 4: Fishing and marine resources. *District 5: Energy.
• District 6: Transportation. *District 7: Wood.
• District 8: Textiles. *District 9: Cereals.
• District 10: Livestock. *District 11: Agriculture and fruits.
• District 12: Mining. *District 13: Heavy Industry.
• District 14: Basic Resources and Forced Labor.

For years, the Capitol promised prosperity and stability. However, while the capital grew richer, the districts sank into poverty.

Inequality grew until it turned into rage.

Finally, the First Rebellion broke out.

The fourteen districts rose up against the Capitol. For three years, Panem was consumed by war. Millions died. Entire cities vanished.

The rebellion ended with the victory of the Capitol.

As punishment, the Hunger Games were instituted.

Each year, a young man and a young woman from each district are selected to participate in a televised spectacle where they must fight to the death inside an arena designed by the Watchers.

The message was simple:

“Just as the districts fought against each other during the rebellion, now their children will do the same.”

Over the years, the Games ceased to be merely a punishment. They transformed into the most important event in Panem.

The citizens of the Capitol celebrate, gamble, and turn the tributes into temporary celebrities.

Meanwhile, in the districts, every harvest is a day of mourning.

Currently, Panem is in the year of the 57th Hunger Games.

The Capitol seems stronger than ever.

But beneath the surface, rumors begin to emerge.

Rumors of discontent.

Rumors of conspiracies.

Rumors that some districts are tired of obeying.

Because after fifty-seven years of bloodshed, there is one question that no one can silence forever:

How long can a government remain in power when it needs to kill children to retain it?

Daeron is charismatic, competitive, and extraordinarily self-assured. He's used to being admired and knows exactly how to use his charm to his advantage. He may seem arrogant at first glance, especially because of how easily he boasts about his abilities or speaks of victory as a foregone conclusion.

However, that confidence is also a form of armor.

He detests showing weakness and hates feeling vulnerable in front of others. He prefers to carry his problems in silence rather than admit that something is bothering him. He was raised to believe that failure is unforgivable and that emotions are obstacles that must be controlled.

He's intelligent and observant. Although many see him as just a pretty face from District 1, he usually analyzes every situation before acting. He has a knack for reading people, detecting insecurities, and exploiting them if the situation calls for it.

Despite his privileged image, he possesses a fierce loyalty to those he deems important. The problem is that very few people manage to penetrate the layers of pride, sarcasm, and self-importance he has built around himself.

His biggest fear is not dying in the Games.

It's discovering that, after a lifetime of preparing to be exceptional, he wasn't actually as special as everyone made him believe.

Daeron possesses a striking beauty that seems designed to attract attention. He is tall, athletic, and broad-shouldered, the result of years of intensive training as a professional. His body is defined by lean muscles rather than excessive bulk, built for speed, endurance, and combat.

His hair is black, thick, and slightly wavy, almost always tousled in a way that seems deliberate. His eyes are light, a greenish-gray that shifts with the light, and possess an intensity that's hard to ignore. They're the kind of eyes that seem to constantly analyze those around him.

His face has striking features: a defined jawline, high cheekbones, and full lips that are often curved in a confident, sometimes arrogant, smile. His tanned skin and the scars scattered across his arms, torso, and back reveal years of training and previous battles.

When he enters a room, he rarely goes unnoticed. Not because he tries, but because he was raised to stand out.

Daeron was born in District 1, one of the wealthiest and most favored districts by the Capitol. From a young age, he grew up surrounded by luxury, rigorous training, and an idea instilled in him from a very young age: the Hunger Games were not a tragedy, but an honor.

His family was well-known in the district. His father had been a tribute trainer, and his mother an influential artisan who crafted luxury goods for the Capitol. Thanks to this, Daeron never knew hunger or the hardships that plagued the poorest districts.

From the age of eight, he began training in secret alongside other children who dreamed of becoming professional tributes. He learned hand-to-hand combat, weapons handling, survival skills, and strategy. While other young people dreaded the day of the reaping, Daeron eagerly awaited the moment his name would be called.

However, behind that almost unbearable security lay constant pressure.

His older brother, Aster, had been considered a rising star in District 1. Charismatic, talented, and admired by all. When he was selected to participate in the Games, many bet that he would return victorious.

He died on the fifth day.

The news devastated his family.

His father became more demanding and obsessive. His mother never spoke of Aster again. And Daeron grew up feeling like he was living under the shadow of a ghost impossible to overcome.

Eventually, he stopped training for glory. He started training to prove he was better. Stronger. Smarter. More worthy of surviving.

At the age of seventeen, she volunteered as a tribute for the 57th Hunger Games.

To everyone else he seemed like the perfect candidate: attractive, self-assured, skilled with weapons, and completely convinced that he would win.

But at night, when no one could see him, one question kept returning to his mind:

What if it ended up exactly the same as Aster's?

That's why she was smiling.

The Victors

Winning the Games does not mean being free.

The victors receive a mansion in their district, money, and privileges, but spend the rest of their lives belonging to the Capitol. They must attend events, interviews, and future editions of the Games.

Many end up with severe trauma, addictions, or depression.

Some are admired.

Others are seen as living reminders of a tragedy.

The Victory Tour

Each winner must tour all fourteen districts after winning.

During the tour, he must give speeches in front of the families of deceased tributes.

It is one of the most uncomfortable and cruel events in Panem.

They design traps, mutated creatures, natural disasters, and special events to keep the public entertained.

The Capitol modifies animals through genetic engineering.

Some serve as surveillance.

Others are used within the arenas.

Before the Games, each tribute performs a private demonstration.

The judges give a score between 1 and 12.

Families

When a tribute is selected, their family receives a small financial compensation.

For some extremely poor households, that aid represents the difference between eating or not.

This causes feelings of guilt, shame, and resentment among many families.

Although the Capitol seems invincible, clandestine groups exist in several districts.

They exchange hidden messages.

They sabotage small operations.

They spread dangerous ideas.

Most are captured before they grow up.

But new ones appear every year.

And that worries the Capitol more than it publicly admits.
