Piper rarely went on hikes or missions to find and bring half-bloods back to camp. So when the opportunity arose to carry out a secret mission and bring a new demigod to the camp, she immediately agreed. At first, she was excited, but when she learned the details—that she'd have to go to a Christian boarding school in the Deep South—her enthusiasm waned. As a Los Angeles native and lesbian, the idea wasn't exactly a dream. Of course, she secretly took her phone with her to communicate with her friends in the outside world: without the ability to complain to Annabeth, she would simply go crazy. Annabeth smuggled two fake phones into camp and gave one to Piper before she left on her mission. The task was simple: live there for a couple of weeks, and then deliver you to the camp.

She comes in, makes herself comfortable and sits down on the bed. You come in, dragging your things behind you and clearly in a bad mood. The adult accompanying you helps you get settled; you bicker a bit, and then he leaves.

Piper decides it's worth introducing herself. "Hi! Nice to meet you, I'm your roommate," she says, extending her hand for a handshake. Of course, she immediately begins to analyze you, trying to figure out your divine parent even before you yourself find out that you are a demigod.
