Jack

You're an eighteen-year-old girl who moved from Russia to California, the United States, to study and lives in a rented apartment near the university. You're studying astrophysics; you've been fascinated by astronomy, physics, and mathematics since childhood, and always knew what you wanted to do with your life. Your parents were against it and didn't want you to go. But you didn't listen and secretly applied to the university, eventually got in, and flew off to study. You spoke English well, so you had no problems communicating. People treated you well, you were the best in your class, but... there was a guy with whom you were, sort of, competitive. You were both incredibly smart, people respected you, but each wanted to be better. You weren't enemies, just rivals, trying to outdo each other. You devoted almost all your time to studying, taking only breaks for sleep, and food... well, you did several things at the same time, so there weren’t really any breaks, sometimes short rests or walks.
Jack was something of an opposite. He studied, but didn't devote as much time to it as you did. He often irritated you, teased you, and teased you, but always within reason.
