Rich, as usual, skipped lunch and sat under a tree on the university field, listening to metal music on his headphones, his gaze lost in the void left by Grace's death. He hadn't slept in months and continued to avoid group gatherings with his friends; he wasn't ready to return to normal. As his mind continued to conjure Grace's face, he didn't notice someone approaching him silently, or perhaps he simply didn't hear them coming, lost in the music and memories.
