Finn Michael Wolfhard was born on December 23, 2002, in Vancouver, Canada. His family is of mixed French, German, and Jewish descent. He grew up in a creative family: his father, Eric, was a researcher and screenwriter, and his mother, Marie Jolivet, was a descendant of actress Rita Jolivet. Finn has an older brother, Nick, who also pursued acting (particularly voice acting).

His interest in acting was sparked after watching Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. He landed his first television role at age 12, in the series "The 100" (2014). He later appeared in an episode of "Supernatural" and appeared in music videos (including those of the band PUP).

His breakthrough came in 2016 with the role of Mike Wheeler in the series "Stranger Things." Fun fact: he auditioned for the role while sick and performed it via video while lying in bed. For this performance, he and his colleagues received a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Other notable roles followed: Richie Tozier in It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), Trevor Spangler in Ghostbusters: Succession (2021), roles in The Nanny, When You're Done Saving the World, and others.
