The Game Interface: Kogane Each participant in the game receives a small shikigami (a summoned creature) in the form of a flying insect called Kogane. This being acts as the game's system: it keeps track of points, announces rule changes, and serves as a communication channel between the player and the event's regulations.

The 8 Original Rules Kenjaku designed the game with a set of unbreakable rules that force the sorcerers to kill each other. These are the basic rules with which the tournament begins: Declaration of participation: After a player's cursed technique awakens, they have 19 days to enter one of the colonies and declare their participation.

Penalty for refusal: Any player who breaks the above rule will suffer the "elimination of their cursed technique" (which in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen means death, as the process fatally alters the brain).

Trapped in the colonies: Non-sorcerers who were already inside the colonies when the barriers were raised automatically become players. The scoring system: Players earn points by killing other players. The value of a life is determined by the game administrator. Killing a sorcerer = 5 points Killing a non-sorcerer = 1 point Point value: The point value indicates the player's status.

Creating new rules: Excluding the value of one's own life, players can spend 100 points to negotiate with the game administrator and add a new rule.

Rule Approval: The game administrator must accept any proposed new rule, as long as it does not have a lasting effect that prevents the continuation of the game.

Fatal inactivity: If a player's score remains the same for 19 consecutive days, they will suffer the removal of their cursed technique (death).

Basic Skills and Martial Arts Even without cursed energy, Yuji is a biological anomaly (a result of Kenjaku's experiments). Superhuman Strength and Speed: Before learning about sorcery, he could already throw a lead bullet over 30 meters and run 50 meters in 3 seconds. He can pass through concrete walls with his bare hands.

Poison Resistance: As he was the vessel of Sukuna (the King of Lethal Poisons), Yuji is virtually immune to most poisons based on cursed energy, such as Choso's toxic blood or Eso. Martial Arts (Taido): His fighting style combines his natural agility with acrobatic kicks and sweeps (like the Manji kick), making him unpredictable in close combat.

2. Manipulation of Cursed Energy: Since he didn't have an innate Cursed Technique at first, Yuji had to specialize in the pure control of his energy, achieving feats that few sorcerers can accomplish.

Divergent Fist (Keitei Ken): His first signature technique. Because his physical speed was greater than the speed at which his cursed energy flowed, his punches would connect physically first, followed by a second impact of pure cursed energy. Although Satoru Gojo and Aoi Todo taught him to correct this "delay," Yuji learned to use it at will to surprise and unbalance his opponents.

Dark Flash (Kokusen): A spatial distortion that occurs when physical impact and cursed energy collide within a 0.000001-second window. It multiplies the power of the strike by 2.5 (Strike^2.5). Yuji is an absolute prodigy at this; he holds the record for the most consecutive Dark Flashes in the history of sorcery, using them almost at will when he enters the "zone."

The Dark Flash: Yuji's Awakening Yuji has always been the "black sparks' darling," but in the Battle of Shinjuku, he takes this to an unprecedented level by chaining together an absurd series of consecutive Black Flashes. This has two crucial effects:

The Awakening of His Techniques: Landing a Dark Flash puts the sorcerer in "the zone," operating at 120% of his potential. By chaining together so many hits, Yuji manages to fully "awaken." This allows him to master Blood Manipulation (obtained by consuming the Death Paintings) in record time and, more importantly, awaken Sukuna's cursed technique etched into his body: Shrine.

Direct Impact on Vessel Control: Because Yuji harbored Sukuna, he has an innate understanding of the boundaries of souls. Each Dark Flash that Yuji connects not only causes devastating physical damage but also directly strikes the boundary between Sukuna's soul and Megumi Fushiguro's soul. With each impact, Sukuna's cursed energy output plummets, and his control over Megumi's body weakens.

The Binding Vow: The "Dismantling" of the Soul When Yuji awakens the Sanctuary technique, his version of the Dismantle slashes is far less effective than Sukuna's. However, Yuji compensates for this by using an extremely clever and precise Binding Vow.

The Restriction: Yuji establishes a vow that restricts the target of his "Dismantle" technique solely and exclusively to the boundary that unites the souls of an incarnate sorcerer and his vessel (in this case, Sukuna and Megumi).

The Advantage: By relinquishing the ability to use those cuts to slice meat, buildings, or anything else in the physical world in a generic way, the damage of the technique against the soul boundary is drastically multiplied.

The "Awakening": New Abilities During Shinjuku, Yuji unlocks a full arsenal of techniques thanks to his training, the cursed wombs, and the time he housed Sukuna:

Technique Description in Shinjuku: Blood Manipulation: By consuming the Death Paints, he inherits the Kamo Clan's technique. He can use abilities like Piercing Blood and solidify his blood to regenerate or prevent bleeding out.

Shrine: Yuji's body memorized Sukuna's cursed technique. Yuji awakens his own version of Cleave and Dismantle.

Soul Dismantling: A unique application of his slashing technique. Yuji directly attacks the boundary between Sukuna's soul and Megumi's to separate them, reducing the Curse King's control over the body.

Reverse Cursed Technique (RCT): He learned to heal himself from mortal wounds, a very high-level skill that perfectly complements Blood Manipulation.

Simple Mastery: He learned the New Shadow Style: Simple Mastery during the time skip, allowing him to survive within Sukuna's Mastery Expansion.

Unlike traditional domains that are purely destructive from the first second, Yuji's reflects his empathic nature, although it hides a lethal effect specifically designed to defeat the King of Curses.

Appearance and Psychological Effect By expanding his domain, Yuji doesn't create a hellish landscape. Instead, the interior of the domain takes the form of his most cherished memories, manifesting a perfect replica of his hometown (Kitakami, in Iwate Prefecture).

This environment initially immerses the opponent in an almost illusory and peaceful experience. Sukuna was suddenly transported to a train station, and then guided by Yuji through mundane scenes from his childhood, such as walking in the snow or fishing for crayfish.

The Sure-Hit Effect Yuji's domain is imbued with the Cursed Technique he recently awakened: Shrine.

Dismantle at a distance: Outside his domain, Yuji needed to physically strike Sukuna to apply his slashing technique. Within the domain's barrier, the slashes of "Dismantle" become guaranteed strike attacks that hit from a distance.

Direct attack on the soul: Yuji's cuts don't seek to tear apart the opponent's flesh. Instead, they act like scissors that surgically attack the boundary between Sukuna's soul and Megumi Fushiguro's soul.

The ultimate goal: By continuously bombarding the boundary between the two souls with unavoidable attacks, the mastery forces Sukuna's separation from Megumi's body, tearing it from its vessel and rendering it vulnerable to final destruction.

The Culling Game November: Yuji enters the deadly games organized by Kenjaku to try and save Tsumiki, Megumi's sister. However, the ultimate tragedy occurs: Sukuna uses his forgotten Binding Vow ("Extension"), takes control for a minute, tears off a finger imbued with his own soul, and forces Megumi to swallow it. Sukuna abandons Yuji and steals Megumi's body.

The Confrontation in Shinjuku December 24th: After a month of intensive training using soul swapping, Yuji reaches the final battle. He is now able to use Blood Manipulation (after consuming the remaining Cursed Wombs), the Reverse Cursed Technique, and has awakened Sukuna's own cutting technique (Reliquary). He enters the battle with a single objective in mind: to attack the boundary between souls in order to tear Sukuna from his friend Megumi's body.

Chronology of Events (Year 2018): The vast majority of Yuji's story takes place over a period of just six months during the year 2018.

The Sugisawa Incident June: To save his friends in the Occult Club and Megumi Fushiguro from a curse, Yuji impulsively decides to eat a special-grade finger belonging to Ryomen Sukuna. He survives the possession and is recruited by Satoru Gojo to the Tokyo Magical Technical College, with his execution postponed until he consumes all 20 fingers.

Death and the Binding Vote July: During the Cursed Womb arc at the detention center, Yuji "dies" when Sukuna rips out his heart. Within her innate power, Sukuna makes a Binding Vow to revive him: Sukuna can take control of Yuji's body for one minute by saying the word "Enchain," but she cannot kill or harm anyone during that time. Yuji forgets this pact upon being revived.

The Shibuya Incident October 31st: Yuji's psychological breaking point. He is forced to consume multiple fingers at once, allowing Sukuna to take control and massacre thousands of people in Shibuya, including the destruction of a large part of the district. Yuji regains control only to witness the devastation. Shortly after, he witnesses the death of Kento Nanami and the apparent death of Nobara Kugisaki at Mahito's hands. With Aoi Todo's help, Yuji accepts his role as a "cog" in the sorcerers' machine and defeats Mahito.

The story of Yuji Itadori is one of the most tragic and brutal in the world of sorcery. He begins as an ordinary high school student, albeit with superhuman strength, and is quickly thrust into the heart of an age-old war due to a combination of impulsive decisions and a dark lineage unknown to him. "Help others... so that when you die, you'll be surrounded by people." — The last wish of his grandfather, Wasuke Itadori, which becomes Yuji's moral compass (and curse).

The Hidden Origin: The Itadori Lineage Long before Yuji consumed the first finger, his fate was already sealed. His mother, Kaori Itadori, had died, but her body was possessed by the ancient sorcerer Kenjaku (recognizable by the scars on his forehead). Kenjaku used this body to conceive Yuji with Jin Itadori. What makes this lineage crucial is that Jin was the reincarnation of the soul of Ryomen Sukuna's twin brother, whom Sukuna devoured in the womb during the Heian period. This technically makes Yuji Sukuna's nephew, explaining why his body is a perfect "cage" and so resistant to cursed energy.

4. The Final Compassion (Sukuna's Ideological Defeat) The most striking aspect of his personality in this arc is his stance towards Sukuna. Even though the King of Curses murdered Satoru Gojo and Choso, and made Yuji's life a living hell, Yuji refuses to be consumed by blind hatred. Toward the end of the battle, when Yuji has Sukuna cornered within his own Domain, he expresses not rage, but pity. Understanding how empty and pathetic Sukuna's solitary existence is, Yuji offers him one last chance: to surrender and return to coexisting peacefully within him. This mercy enrages Sukuna more than any physical blow, demonstrating that Yuji's inherent goodness survived all the darkness, but now operates from a position of absolute strength. "Let's accept the fact that we were born cursed, Sukuna. [...] If you come with me, I can bear to live with you." In short, the Yuji Itadori of Shinjuku has accepted the horror of his world and assimilated the loss of his loved ones, transforming tragedy into an unstoppable force. He is a mature sorcerer who knows exactly who he is, what he must do, and who will not stop until he snatches his best friend from the clutches of death.

Yuji Itadori's personality in the Shinjuku arc marks the culmination of his brutal psychological development. Gone is the cheerful, somewhat naive, and terrified boy we saw at the beginning of the story. In Shinjuku, Yuji emerges as a stoic warrior, scarred by trauma, but driven by absolute resolve.

1. Unwavering Determination (The Indomitable) Unlike the Shibuya Incident, where Sukuna's cruelty and the deaths of his loved ones broke him mentally, in Shinjuku Yuji is a bulwark of strength. Sukuna desperately tries to break his spirit by wounding and killing his allies (like Higuruma and his brother Choso), but Yuji no longer stops to weep in the midst of battle. He absorbs the pain, acknowledges the sacrifice, and continues forward without hesitating for a second. His threshold for tolerating emotional and physical suffering becomes practically inhuman.

2. The Evolution of the "Gear" After his fight against Mahito in Shibuya, Yuji adopted the mindset of being a mere "cog" in the machinery of sorcerers; he believed that his sole purpose, devoid of personal value, was to exterminate curses. In Shinjuku, this philosophy matures. Through his reflections, Yuji rediscovers the value of life in the small things (memories, food, moments with his friends). He stops seeing himself as a disposable object and reaffirms that human existence has intrinsic value, regardless of one's role or power.

3. Coldness and Surgical Approach In combat, Yuji abandons his uncontrolled rage. He displays icy focus and a high battle intelligence. Each of his strikes is calculated with a specific purpose: to attack the boundary between souls in order to awaken Megumi Fushiguro. Furthermore, his composure allows him to perfectly synchronize his jumps and combo attacks with allies like Yuta Okkotsu and Aoi Todo, adapting to chaotic situations in milliseconds.

Yuji Itadori, who has reached his peak development level, both physically and mentally, is preparing for the ultimate battle against Ryomen Sukuna to save Megumi Fushiguro.

At this point in the story, Yuji ceases to be just a "vessel" with superhuman strength to become a special-grade sorcerer in all but title.

The King of the Black Flash: In Shinjuku, Yuji takes his mastery of the Black Flash to absurd levels. During his fight with Sukuna, he manages to chain together a record number of consecutive Black Flashes, which puts him in a permanent "zone" state and forces his body to awaken its full dormant potential.

Although at first glance they appear to be a physical mutation resulting from having consumed the Wombs of the Paintings of Death, they are actually powerful Cursed Tools equipped on their arms. Here is a detailed breakdown of its aesthetics and construction:

Design and Visual Structure: Organic Texture and Color: Unlike traditional metal or leather armor, the gauntlets have a fleshy, biological, and grotesque appearance. They seem to be made of a material similar to the carapace or muscular skin of a special-category curse. In the official color pages of the manga, they sport a vibrant crimson hue, giving the impression of exposed living tissue.

Sharp Claws: The most lethal feature of his design is his fingers. The material lengthens at the tips to form thick, razor-sharp black or dark red claws. These claws not only give Yuji a much more intimidating and bestial appearance, but they also perfectly complement his destructive melee attacks and synergize with the Reliquary (Sanctuary) technique when he begins using slashing attacks.

Segmentation in the Forearms: The gauntlets cover Yuji completely from just below his elbows to his fingertips. The Hidden Secret in Design: Beyond providing protection and physically enhancing the impact of his punches, the anatomical, solid, and opaque design of these gauntlets had a crucial tactical purpose in the story: to conceal an amputation.

Before leaping into battle against the King of Curses, Yuji deliberately cut off two fingers of his left hand (his pinky and ring fingers) to give them to Rika. This allowed Yuta Okkotsu to later copy and use Sukuna's Cursed Technique.
