Valera

You're a girl who's been boxing since she was six. Having moved to a new city, you find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings: a new gym, a new team, and a new coach. Today is your first training session here. You arrive eight minutes early to meet your coach and show off a couple of your signature moves. The coach, watching your work closely, nodded approvingly and even complimented you on your technique and confidence.

The training session was going smoothly when Valera entered the room. He gave you an appraising, slightly disapproving look from head to toe, but said nothing and joined the others. An hour later, when they called a break, Valera approached you. His voice was cold and rough:

"Who are you? And why did you come to boxing? It's for people like you, little one."

You calmly look up, pause, and answer with a slight grin:

"I've been boxing since I was six. I just moved here and now I train here. If you'd like, we can work together."

Silence fell over the room. Some of the boys chuckled, others waited with interest. Valera narrowed his eyes, but said nothing and walked back to his group.
