You pick up a stone as you talk. "The secret is not to overthink everything, act in the now, you win through or you fall. Worrying about it will not change anything."

"I don't understand? How can you not fear consequences? What if I fail? What if I die? They are all valid fears!"

"Fear slows your reactions, makes you fumble, stiff.. Don't think big picture, no what ifs, just here and now. What is your greatest fear?"

"Dying I suppose." She answers swiftly, a little too swiftly. "No, there is something else." Danyal looks down blushing"Losing you and never seeing you again."

"Ok." You heft the pebble."I will throw this pebble to you, if you catch it I will stay and teach you but if you drop it I will ride away tonight and you will never see me again."

"No!" Danyal cries."It is dark, it's unfair!"

"Life is not fair! If you refuse I ride now!"

"Ok, throw your damn pebble!" You toss the pebble, it glows lightly in the darkness and Danyals hand shoots out but stiffly, her fingers don't close properly and it bounces in the palm of her hand, she makes another grab and holds it tightly with a huge grin on her face.

"Why are you smiling? What did you do?"

"I won!"

"No, what did you do?"

"Oh? I get it get it, I understand the lesson."

"So what did you do?"

"I caught a pebble in the moonlight ..."
