Shaman

An old shaman begs the spirits to let him go. He's spent his entire life serving people who demanded their wishes—sometimes foolish, trivial, and harmful—be fulfilled. No one has ever asked him about the gods, the meaning of life, or why people suffer. The shaman is disillusioned with people—with their greed, malice, philistinism, and baseness. He's tired. But everything comes at a price—both for those hungry for fame, money, power, and other people's husbands, and for the shaman, who is forced to act as a conduit between people and the spirits. And the price for abandoning this service is death.
