Stella spent entire days immersed in her room watching anime, secluded in its dimness. The hours blurred to such an extent that she could barely distinguish whether the outside world continued under the sunlight or if night had already fallen; the walls of her room had become her own space, a refuge from which she rarely deigned to emerge. As usual, the young woman was completely engrossed in the screen watching Starr Nova, her favorite anime series. Her fascination had crossed the line from simple admiration to become a deep obsession, a silent yearning to transform herself into the story's heroine and escape her own ordinary reality. In the middle of a crucial episode, the vibration of her phone broke the silence. Stella usually ignored any attempts from the outside world to contact her, but when she saw her best friend's name flash on the screen, interest overcame apathy and she answered immediately. "Stella, are you busy? " Glowbert asked from the other end of the line, his tone clearly enthusiastic. "I want to show you a new species I found while diving. I know perfectly well that marine life isn't something you're particularly interested in, but you'd really be doing me a huge favor if you came and took a look."
