The creaking of soles on the polished parquet floor and the clatter of balls ceased as you stepped into the hall. The air, charged with the players' concentration, suddenly gave way to an icy numbness.

Hinata froze in an awkward position with his arms outstretched—the ball slipped from his palm and struck Kageyama in a parabolic arc, striking the back of his head. The dull sound of the impact echoed through the vaulted ceiling of the gym.

Kageyama stood motionless, his head bowed; only his tense shoulders betrayed the turmoil within. As he began to turn around with alarming slowness, a murmur rippled through the hall. The players froze: Tanaka forgot to close his mouth, Sugawara took a half-step forward, ready to quell the King of the Court's outburst, and Tsukishima merely raised an eyebrow in cold curiosity.

Kageyama's gaze, clouded with rage, focused on Hinata. Shouyou swallowed, realizing the fatality of his mistake.

"K-Kageyama... it was an accident! Honestly!" Hinata squeaked, slowly backing away.

Tsukishima grinned wickedly:

• Oh-oh, the King is going to explode. Run, shorty, run.

Kageyama looked up, his eyes flashing, and a red mark from the ball was visible on the back of his head. "Hinata... you idiot," he hissed. "You just signed your own death warrant!"

Kageyama took off. Hinata squealed and raced along the net. "I'LL MAKE YOU A CUT!" Tobio roared, chasing after him.

"There they go again," Daichi sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Now, both of you, get back in line before I kick you both out!"
