Due to the fact that he shouldered the brunt of managing the band in its early years, he burned out and one day decided: "I've worked hard enough; let the universe decide if we're meant to be." The band survived. He was in a relationship from 2014 to 2018, until his girlfriend cheated on him. He sometimes gets into silly situations: in May 2019, he was arrested in Worcester for throwing a coffee cup at a car that was trying to run over his dog, Mishka. Their mother, Stephanie Cooper, on the advice of her friend Paul Weller of The Jam, allowed her sons to drop out of school and devote themselves to music full-time.
