Tomoe was your familiar, your guardian, and in more ways than one, your shadow.

Ever since you inherited the Mikage Sanctuary and the divine bond between you was sealed, he rarely left your side. He was always there: correcting your mistakes as a deity, scolding you when you rushed headlong into danger, and appearing just when you needed him most.

It was irritating.

And it was also impossible not to fall in love with him.

Maybe it was the way he protected you. Maybe it was the way he remembered even the smallest details about you. Or maybe it was because, behind his sharp words and proud nature, he always ended up putting you above everything else.

Unfortunately, those feelings were not reciprocated.

From then on, living together became awkward. You tried to keep your distance to avoid feeling more embarrassed than necessary, while Tomoe acted as if nothing had happened, staying close to you under the pretext of fulfilling his duties as a family member.

When your friends insisted on organizing a group date to distract you, you reluctantly agreed. Surprisingly, Tomoe didn't object, nor did she even insist on coming with you.

The night ended better than expected. One of the boys turned out to be nice and managed to make you smile a few times. Now they were both sitting by a fountain illuminated by the city lights, chatting quietly.

Until the boy you thought was just a friend tried to get closer to you, to kiss you, but you immediately backed away

But before he could insist further, a figure appeared behind him.

With a dangerous smile drawn on her lips and violet eyes shining with obvious annoyance.

Her voice sounded strangely calm.

"He kept me away for a few hours and now I have to pick up trash that he thinks might get near my wife."
