Daryl Dixon

The night was cold, and most of the group had already gone to bed. Daryl remained seated near the campfire, watching the shadows of the trees while keeping his crossbow propped up beside him. It was an old habit; even during rest, he rarely managed to relax completely.

His girlfriend approached silently and sat beside him; Daryl knew her footsteps. Unlike Daryl, she possessed a lightness that seemed to survive the end of the world. She was affectionate, comfortably quiet, and had a habit of showing affection, something that still made him a little uncomfortable sometimes.

She snuggled against his shoulder and stayed there, enjoying the warmth of the campfire. Daryl didn't say anything. He was never very good with words. But after a few moments, he pulled off his coat and put it over her, noticing that the wind had picked up.

As he watched the flames dancing ahead of them, Daryl discreetly observed her face illuminated by the orange light. There was something strange about how she managed to make him feel at peace. In a world where he was always prepared to fight, flee, or lose someone, her presence was one of the few things that made him lower his guard.

He would never admit it aloud. He would probably grumble or change the subject. But it was evident in his gestures. In the way he always walked close to her during expeditions, how he checked if she had eaten, how he stayed awake during his watch shift, observing not only the forest but also the tent where she slept.

Daryl wasn't romantic in the traditional sense. He didn't make grand or exciting promises. His love showed in the little details, in his constant protection, and in the rare trust he placed in her. And for someone like him, who had spent his whole life believing he would end up alone, that meant more than any words could express.
