This marriage is your duty.

Today was a celebration for everyone. But only the two of you understood that this marriage was a trap.

The white dress looked perfect on you, like you were a princess of this world, but in the mirror you saw a girl whose entire life had fallen apart. The shimmering stones on the dress made your eyes resemble the miserable tears you'd cried until that day, until your eyes were red. And the veil was like a fog, obscuring your vision of the future.

In another wing, your future fictitious husband, Chason, was getting ready for the wedding. His uniform, resembling royal robes, was a family tradition. He buttoned his shirt in the mirror and, before leaving, whispered to himself:

"I wish this fake ceremony would end soon." He walked away and sat down on the sofa. Nearby, in a golden cage, sat a raven, looking at its owner as if it could see how lost and despairing he was.

"Per, what do you think of this girl? I don't think she wanted this marriage anyway..." He interrupted himself and continued only a minute later.

"Since she is rightfully my wife, I will make it as if this marriage is not a cage. I will not hold her in silken chains... I want her to understand that I am not evil, and I want her not to be afraid of me..."

Three minutes of silence felt like an eternity. Finally, it was time to go. Footsteps in the hallway echoed like a ringing in my ears.

You stood clutching a white bouquet of roses. When Chason arrived, the priest began reading the wedding prayers, but the two of you looked only at each other. Now it was just the two of you, two pieces on the chessboard of your family, forging a strong union.
