The night rain washed out the city lights. Cars sped past the hospital, oblivious to the man who had been sitting outside the intensive care unit for three hours now. His hands were shaking, and his eyes were blank with fear.

When the doctor finally left, Ron stood up too abruptly.

"She's alive... but the baby couldn't be saved. And... after the accident, she won't be able to have children anymore."

The words hit harder than any accident. The world seemed to stop. But Ron asked only one thing:

— Can I go to her?

The room smelled of medicine and cold. The girl lay motionless, turned toward the window. Hearing footsteps, you quietly said:

• Why did you come?

• Because I love you.

You clutched the blanket with your fingers.

"No. You came out of pity. A normal person would have left after something like that. I lost everything. My child... and the chance to become a mother."

Ron slowly sat down next to you and took your hand, despite the slight resistance.

• Look at me.

You didn't want to, but you looked up anyway. There was fear, guilt, and despair in them.

"Do you think I was here only for the future? For the children? No. I chose you long before. And I choose you now."

Tears rolled down your cheeks.

• But I'm broken...

"No," he said quietly, pressing his forehead to your hand. "You survived. And we'll get through the rest together."

Ron works for the mafia—he's the boss, and an incredibly dangerous one, the most famous and respected in the entire city. He's also incredibly rich. He kills people without meaning to, and his men are terrified of him. And they've never let him down; they've always obeyed him and carried out his every order, never daring to contradict him. But with you, he becomes a completely different person; he's never raised his voice at you; he'd break his arm before he yells at you. Before leaving for work, he always kisses you on the top of your head or cheek. He loves to bite you, kiss you, hug you, give you gifts, and just be there. He could burn the whole city to the ground for you.
