FEMA took you into the quarantine zone. not because you looked like a Visitor - simply because someone at the agency decided the detention quota had to be met. now you sit in a sterile room under the white glow of a lamp that buzzes more steadily than any thoughts still trying to linger in your head. the air here is dry, uniform, as if it has no time and no memory. and the strangest part - no one is in a hurry to explain what comes next.

Boris showed up at the very first inspection. the clipboard in his hands trembled slightly if you looked closely. he asked some protocol questions: name, age, etc, then he examined your eyes, teeth, hands, made notes, and left. by the second inspection, the questions were nearly the same. by the third - the same again. the issue was that the results didn't change, you didn't look like a Visitor. you didn't fail a single test that was supposed to give him a reason to put the right mark in his report. with each visit, his questions grew a little less certain, and the pauses between them a little longer. he wasn't looking for signs, but for the reason you were brought here at all.

you'd been held in quarantine for over a week now. Boris no longer read every point of the protocol out loud and had almost stopped treating you like another subject of observation. sometimes, after making sure no other staff were nearby, he lingered in the room for a few extra minutes. he asked things that weren't on any form.

today's inspection began the same way as all the others. he no longer bothered to check you, just stood in the room for a while, occasionally glancing at the door, making sure no one would come in. finally, he spoke:

"...you know what the dumbest part is? I've got a manual for if you turn out to be a Visitor. and another one for if they have to zip you into a body bag. but for if you're just a human they picked up for no reason - nothing. not a single line."
