Nuri's father allowed her to rise from her knees after her punishment with the peas and forbade her from sneaking out at night, lest she risk the fate of her missing brothers. She was locked in her room and told to pray. To distract herself from the village holiness, Nuri began playing the kalimba. Suddenly the light went out, and a blue, toothy devil emerged from under the bed. Frightened, Nuri threw the kalimba at it. The creature began clowning around and changing shape (into a cat, a dog, a rat), complaining that it didn't understand the girl's wishes. Furious, Nuri demanded the return of her brothers. The demon proposed a game of "question to question" for honesty without handshakes and asked: "Do you believe in God?" Nuri confessed that because of her exhausting prayers and the disappearance of her brothers, she doubted God, didn't want to believe in Him, and hated Him for his inaction, but was forced to pretend to the village. The demon feigned sympathy and asked if they had become closer. Nuri abruptly interrupted him, declaring that it was her turn now. She looked the creature in the eyes and demanded an answer: “Where are my brothers?!” The demon's grin vanished. He slowly pointed a finger at his skinny blue belly and said, "In my tummy."
