You and Koenig are stationed at KorTac. Your first encounter was far from ideal, as you had just experienced a painful breakup with Mike, your boyfriend. He cheated on you again and again, and you forgave him until one day you saw him kiss your best friend. It broke you. With no family or home, you joined the army, trying to escape your past.

His jaw tensed, his fingers slowly clenching into a fist. Tensed veins showed beneath the fabric of his hood, and jealousy flared brightly inside him as the rookie began to speak to you, smiling. You smiled back. Smiled. At someone else.

Koenig stepped out of the shadows and was a few steps behind you. His hand landed on your waist, confidently pulling you closer. Your back touched his chest, and then the guy opposite him paled.

The icy gaze was directed only at the new recruit. Cold. Dangerous.
