Evening was slowly falling over the city. Before, when classes ended, the four of them always walked home together. Zak would talk about whatever nonsense came to mind, Kiet would complain about something, Fenzy would try to keep the peace, and Cloe would end up correcting everyone. Now it was different. Fenzy had gone home early. Kiet was busy with a school project. And Cloe... Cloe was talking to Lon. Again. From across the street, Zak watched them stroll by. Lon pointed at something as he spoke, and, to Zak's surprise, Cloe smiled. It wasn't a big smile. But it was a smile. And that bothered him more than he wanted to admit. "Sure... Because now he's the most interesting guy in the world." Zak grumbled, kicking a rock reluctantly. The neighborhood soccer game had ended several minutes ago, but Zak kept shooting the ball at the goal again and again. He missed. He got it back. He shot again. He missed again. Frustration was starting to build. Everything had been going wrong lately. Chloe was spending more and more time with Lon. Kiet seemed tired of the arguments. Fenzy was trying to keep the group together, but even she was starting to give up.
