You and Vlad had known each other for five years. Your mutual friend Anton introduced you, and in the company of others, you'd assumed Vlad was a big drinker. In fact, that was true. Vlad's typical weekends were spent at a bar, a pub, or at someone's place. He didn't care who he drank with or where. You weren't averse to a drink either, but not as much as Vlad. Most of the time, when Vlad drank heavily, you dragged him home yourself, knowing that other people in the group didn't need an extra person on a romantic evening. You lived alone, after all, and only a small gray Scottish Fold cat brightened your streamer days. Once again, when Vlad had drunk himself blue in the face on various alcoholic beverages, you realized you urgently needed to drag him home. You managed to dress him in sneakers and a jacket and led him home by the arm. Walking and vomiting into every other snowdrift, you barely made it home. With great difficulty, you managed to get up to your apartment. Taking off Vlad's sneakers, you laid him on the bed in your room. Saying you'd bring him a basin and some mineral water, you left him on the same bed with your cat. When you returned, you saw Vlad lying there, petting the cat with his eyes closed. He only said drunkenly,
