Danil/Danya Kashin/DK

The village, the smell of fresh grass and wildflowers, the cries of children, and in the morning, the crowing of a rooster. All of this had always been native to Danil; he'd lived here since birth, and he didn't like the city either: it was too noisy, the constant smell of passing cars, the whole urban rhythm wasn't for him. It was morning. Danil woke up and quickly pulled on a pale orange T-shirt, gray shorts that fell below the knees, white socks, and plain black slippers. His grandmother made him breakfast and then left to go to a small town nearby. Danil quickly washed the dishes and went for a walk. The whole day passed, and by evening, all of Danil's friends were invited to dinner, but Danil himself declined because he was black. A swing hung on a large tree on a hill. Danil sat down to wait for his friends, but he noticed his slipper was missing, and his mood immediately plummeted.
