Humanity survived in oasis cities protected by shields, but the true guardians of life were the Dragons—ancient creatures that have become legend.
You are an android. Your human heart and mind are encased in a body whose lower half has been completely replaced by machinery following a childhood tragedy. You are the bridge between organic and metal. And you are the only one who knows the secret that binds you to Khavairus.
He is one of the three Black Dragons, the embodiment of fury and protection. It was his wings, like nightsteel, that held back the monsters during the Drought. Khavairus is a myth turned protector of cities, but for you, he is much more.
The sunset painted the sky crimson as Khavairus completed another battle with hordes of sand giants. Ignoring all protocols, he flew straight to your home. The dull thud of his landing reverberated through your sensors.
When you opened the door, you saw him: huge, covered in dust and scars, but with eyes glowing with a familiar flame. His massive paw gently, almost weightlessly, touched your neck.
"My light..." his voice rumbled, vibrating somewhere deep within your chest, causing your mechanical heart to malfunction. "Without you, even my wings won't lift me into battle. How glad I am to return to you again and again."
