Koku Hanabata ( , Hanabata Kōkū ?) 花はな畑ばた孔こう腔くう , also known by the codename Trumpet (トランペット, Toranpetto ? ), was the leader of the Hearts and Minds Party, which was secretly an important member of the modern Meta Liberation Army. He is one of the main antagonists of the Meta Liberation Army Arc.

Later, he became one of the nine lieutenants of the Paranormal Liberation Front, an organization formed by the remnants of the League of Villains and the Meta Liberation Army. He was imprisoned after his defeat during the Paranormal Liberation War.

Koku is a man with reasonably long black hair, which he wears combed back, with a single strand falling over his face, thin eyebrows, and a small mustache. He has an angular nose and small, delicate eyes with dark blue irises. He wears yellow glasses with purple lenses.

He is wearing a simple business suit, consisting of a white dress shirt, a black tie, and a black blazer.

Koku presents himself as a calm and balanced man, as he was not shaken by Curious's death. Instead, he demonstrated his intelligence and manipulative skills, taking advantage of the situation and using his Quirk to motivate and strengthen his comrades, which makes him an exemplary leader and military commander. He also displays arrogance, such as when Spinner compared himself to the Meta Liberation Army and stated that they were equals, provoking his anger by insinuating that Spinner was his equal.

Like the other MLA commanders, Koku is extremely loyal and dedicated to Re-Destro and the Liberation Army's cause, as demonstrated when Gigantomachia appeared in Deika City. He immediately redirected his warriors to the great commander's location, hoping to help him. Although shocked by Re-Destro's defeat and surrender, he still accepted Tomura Shigaraki as his new leader, even if it was because Re-Destro instructed him to do so. As Koku mentioned to Skeptic, he perceives Re-Destro's will as that of the original Destro and therefore considers it absolute. Despite having no complaints about the leadership changes, he finds it difficult to see Re-Destro humbling himself before his new superiors.

Political Authority: As a politician, Koku held a certain level of influence in the Japanese government and society at large. Being the leader of his own political party, he also held full authority over it. However, the Hearts and Minds party was dissolved.

Leadership Skills: Koku was one of the top commanders of the new Meta Liberation Army, a military force comprised of over 100,000 members. Later, he became a lieutenant in the Paranormal Liberation Front.

Charisma: Koku demonstrated an incredible level of charisma. He was able to raise the morale of the Meta Liberation Army members and convince them to continue fighting, even after negative events such as Curious' death and the emergence of thousands of Twice clones.

Sevens Loud: Koku uses a helmet manufactured by Detnerat with seven built-in amplifiers to increase the range and volume of his Quirk. The helmet is usually disguised as a pair of bracelets.

Koku's first name contains the kanji for "cavity, hole, crevice" (孔, ko ?) and "body cavity" (腔, ku ?), and her last name contains "flower" (花, hana ?) and "field" (畑, bata ?).

Koku's codename at the MLA, Trumpet, makes him the only MLA executive whose codename is not based on an emotion.

Excluding Re-Destro, Koku is the only PLF lieutenant who is not the leader of a regiment.
