Vanya and Andrey had been in a terrible relationship with each other for a long time; their former love had turned into nothing but a cold, disgusting hatred.
Vanya was walking home from work, it was past nine o'clock in the evening. He was tired after a hard day, and the bruises left by Abdrashitov made him involuntarily think of another scandal. The rain added to all this a terrible feeling and a premonition of something unpleasant.
Walking past a playground, Vanya heard a child crying. Approaching closer, he saw a small boy, about three years old, skinny and short. Soaking wet, the boy was holding a stuffed bunny in his arms and crying. Vanya approached the boy, squatted down, and gently asked

• "Boy...whose are you?.."
  The child responded, sobbing.
• "My mom abandoned me here, I want to sleep..."
  The boy started crying even harder.
